We often get asked if our shampoo bars are sulfate-free. The short answer is: no, they are not. Our shampoo bars are formulated with sodium coco sulfate, a cleansing ingredient derived from the fatty acids of coconut oil. While it belongs to the sulfate family, it has a smaller molecular size and is considered less harsh than some of the more commonly used sulfates, such as sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS).
Sodium coco sulfate is effective at gently removing dirt, oil, and buildup from the hair without the heavy stripping effect that can sometimes come with traditional sulfates. This makes it a popular choice for solid shampoo formulas, helping to create a rich, satisfying lather while still being kinder to hair and scalp.
That said, sodium coco sulfate is still a sulfate. If you have a known sulfate allergy or sensitivity, our shampoo bars may not be suitable for you. In those cases, we recommend choosing a sulfate-free alternative to ensure the most comfortable and safe hair care experience.
